3 Day / 2 Night Group Programme

Explore one of the world’s most significant seabird islands.

With fourteen seabird species breeding on Lord Howe Island, plus a range of unique endemic land bird species, this is a birdwatcher’s paradise. Here small groups are shown prolific birdlife by experts such as renowned naturalist Ian Hutton, all the while enjoying warm Arajilla hospitality.

 

Day 1

Fly QantasLink from Sydney or Brisbane. Arrive on Lord Howe Island and settle into Arajilla Retreat, Old Settlement Beach.

Meet guide and walk to Ned’s Beach to see the Sooty Terns, Brown Noddies and Black-winged Petrels breeding. Wait until dusk, enjoying drinks, while the Flesh Footed Shearwaters return.

Day 2

Morning at North Bay: boat over and then short walks to look at Sooty Terns, Black Noddies, White Terns and Red-tailed Tropicbirds. At low tide excellent observations of visiting waders feeding on the exposed sea grass beds. Also looking at plant life and geology. Optional snorkeling.

Afternoon Balls Pyramid Seabird Cruise – Flesh Footed Shearwaters, Masked Boobies, White-bellied Storm Petrels, Kermadec Petrels and more *. Balls Pyramid, at a height of 552m, is the world’s tallest sea stack.

Day 3

Free morning to explore at leisure the island, take a glass bottom boat, snorkel or just relax and enjoy Arajilla Retreat hospitality and day spa.

Depart after lunch by QantasLink to Sydney or Brisbane.

 

Price of above on island guided bird watching activities is AU$360 per person, plus Arajilla all-inclusive accommodation tariff.
